An Introduction to Wilcox Real Estate Group and Why I Switched
When I first started my real estate career as a broker, I chose Allen Tate in Gastonia, and I chose Allen Tate for many reasons.
1. They have experienced agents, and I figured I would get the best training.
2. I could leverage they’re trusted name to my advantage to meet new clients.
3. They have a mentor program (which I had to pay for), but it was completely worth it.
4. Their agents seemed to be very professional.
5. I had a good feeling when I interviewed them, and I usually go with my gut feeling.
In May, I made the switch from Allen Tate to Wilcox Real Estate Group and can’t be happier with the results. My broker-in-charge, Kerriane Wilcox, was a little frustrated with Allen Tate for a number of different reasons and was talking about starting her own firm. It didn’t take much to convince me to join. I knew Kerriane was well respected, business-minded, and would be a great leader. My good friend and colleague also made the switch with me. So here we are in May with a broker in charge and two brokers. Not much to talk about!
The Future Is Bright!
There is something to be said about being a part of a group that is starting from scratch. Trying to build something from the ground up. With Allen Tate, everything had already been built. You were just “another” agent. At Wilcox Real Estate Group, we are a team that is trying to build something great. Being one of the newest brokers to join Wilcox did something to my psyche that is hard to explain. I felt that if we are going to succeed and become a successful, well known Real Estate Firm, it’s up to me.
It gave me a new motivation and love for real estate. It has taught me not to fall in love with chasing money, fall in love with chasing a dream. Chasing a dream has motivated me 10 times more than just trying to make as much money as I can. That dream is to continue to represent Wilcox Real Estate Group and prove to the public that we are a name to remember!
Since May, we have grown a lot! We now have 14 licensed brokers! Our Broker in Charge is cautious with who she is hiring, and I’m thankful for that. She knows that hiring respected brokers is the best way to grow. Respected brokers then, over time, will build a well-trusted reputation in the Wilcox Real Estate Group name. My grandfather used to tell me “A good reputation takes 20 years to build and only a day to destroy.” One bad apple can cast a shadow over all of us. It’s been an exciting first couple of months with Wilcox. I’m very excited for the future! It’s a great feeling to know I’m part of a team who is trying to build a trustful and reputable real estate firm.
